My New Release Review of

Kiss Me at Christmas

Playful Brides, #10

by Valerie Bowman

My Thoughts:

We have another winner!
Valerie Bowman never disappoints this reader. This newest book in the wonderful Playful Brides series is full of mystery, action, romance and risks taken.
I love this hero and heroine.
Who is Daffin, the Bow Street Runner really? Will the truth be the end to Regina’s attraction to him when the secret is outed?
Regina and Daffin were meant for each other. We met them in a previous book in this series and now they get their own story.
Regina wants to have things her way and not so subtilty asks Daffin to be her lover for a night.
Daffin is so taken aback by this request that he immediately refuses. Fate has other ideas and throws the two of them together when Regina’s life is threatened. Together they must find where this threat is coming from.
This book is a page turner with cameo appearances by characters from previous books. This is book ten of eleven and although that sounds like a lot of books for one series none have been a disappointment.
I gave this book 4.9 of 5.0 stars (rounded up to 5) for story line and character development. The sensual rating gets 4.0 of 5.0 flames with sizzling intimacy that burns up the pages.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book by invitation from the publisher to read.
This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

valerie_bowman_photo_hires-e1451430348198Valerie Bowman is an award-winning historical romance author who writes racy Regency romps! Her debut novel was published in 2012. Since then, her books have received starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly, Booklist, and Kirkus. Valerie grew up in Illinois with six sisters (she’s number seven) and a huge supply of historical romance novels. After a cold and snowy stint earning a degree in English Language and Literature with a minor in history at Smith College, she moved to Florida the first chance she got. Valerie now lives in Jacksonville with her family including her two rascally dogs. When she’s not writing, she keeps busy reading, traveling, or vacillating between watching crazy reality TV and PBS.

Valerie’s next book is Mr. Hunt, I Presume and will be released on February 10, 2019.

Love knows no boundary…

A stranger – led back from the shadowy edges of death by a ghost—finds herself cold and bloody on the filthy banks of a river in a city she does not know…

From opium-drenched hovels and rat-infested warehouses of Limehouse to the glistening facades of West End mansions, a woman—known only as Sophy—searches for her identity. But the mist-shrouded alleys of Victorian England hold grave dangers for the friendless.
Captain Edward Seymour, the last of a long line of distinguished Royal Navy officers, is searching, as well. Returning from sea to find that his niece has disappeared, he begins combing every inn and hellhole of the city’s darkest corners, desperately hoping to find some trace of the girl.
No one knows the streets of London like Charles Dickens, a young novelist with a reformer’s soul, and Sophy and Edward turn to him for help. Flush with his early literary successes, he is working hard to use his knowledge of the city and his newfound fame to right some of the social ills that plague Victorian England.
But with each step they take toward the truth, Death draws ever closer…
May McGoldrick’s novels are

“Richly romantic.” –Nora Roberts

“Enchanting.” –The Philadelphia Inquirer
