Publisher’s Description:

Far be it for a lady to desire, hatch and execute a daring seduction of a notorious duke at a masquerade ball. But Miss Emmaline Fitzgerald, a wallflower with no decent prospect, was on such a path, and her quarry was her brother’s best friend, Elliot Winthrop, the Duke of Hartford.

One moment of sin, stolen pleasure and irresistible passion, that was all it was supposed to be….

Little did Emma realized everything about her was imprinted in Elliot’s heart and mind, and her scandalous ruse was about to change and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself and the devilish duke.

My Thoughts:

Like book one of this series this is a novella length book. It also contains a less than perfect heroine.
Emma is scarred from a riding accident when she tried to follow the only man she has ever loved.
The whole debacle lead to nothing but her accident which led her to be a cripple.
Now her beloved has returned and although Emma is certain he no longer wants her she is determined to have one passionate night with him.
Will this night lead to a second chance at love for them?
I gave this story of second chances 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a high sensual rating of 4.75 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy in this book is scorching hot.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read and review from the author.
This in no way affected my opinion of this will which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Publisher’s Description:

The Marquess and I was previously published in the Regency anthology A Midsummer Night’s Kiss.

Lady Willow Arlington, hauntingly lovely, is also blind and known by the ton as the dowry-less daughter. Alasdair Morley, the Marquess of Westcliffe, is in need of an heiress, but Lady Willow should be the last person he craves after she was persuaded to reject his offer of marriage when he was a mere third son. Passion reignites between them, and he makes an enticing offer she cannot resist, drawing them into a dance of lust and love despite the misgivings in his heart.

My Thoughts:

I loved this short read by a favorite author, Stacy Reid. I had not previously read this novella although it was published in an anthology.
Unlike a lot of historical romance books this one did not include a perfect hero and heroine.
Instead we have a heroine who is blind and a hero who still loves her in spite of their past. It’s a different take on a second chances story.
This quick read gives the reader just enough back story so they know what happened before and blends it well with the current occurrences.
I gave this story 4.5 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and 3 of 5 flames for heat.
I borrowed this book to read via the KindleUnlimited program.
This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

About The Author:

715Oj7dCdRL._UX250_I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love. I also have a horrible weakness for Ice cream. 🙂
