Three innocent debutantes must work to solve the mysterious death of their childhood friend. With undaunted determination they pledge to not only expose the man responsible for their friend’s tragic death on her wedding night, but to also uncover other unscrupulous men of the ton who would jeopardize the future of other young women.

The Disappearance of Lady Edith

51aZ1TA7OKL__UY250_

The Undaunted Debutantes, #1

$0.99 in E-Book

Publisher’s Description:

One tragic night changed sensible, proper Lady Edith Pelton’s life: when her best friend fell to her death, pushed down a flight of stairs by a nefarious lord.
Now, Edith dedicates her time watching the man she thinks is responsible, while gathering other information to expose other scoundrels posing as gentlemen of honor about London. But when her spying is noticed by a perfect stranger, Edith finds herself with two mysteries—what happened to her friend, and how to win the heart of a brilliantly handsome lord.

My Thoughts:

What a first meeting! Edith is up a tree. Of course that is the best place to be for spying on the man she thinks responsible for her friend’s death.
How was she to know a complete stranger would catch her spying and cause her to tumble from the tree branches and end up with her skirts over her head and her knickers the first thing the stranger sees.

Tristan no longer lives in his father’s house. He has been banished after his father marries the woman Tristan was in love with. He is just leaving his father’s house when he spies a woman perched in a tree on his father’s property. He startles her and she takes a tumble out of the tree and almost into his arms.

This book is another winner from Christina McKnight. It has it’s decidedly comical moments as well as a but of mystery, danger and intrigue.

It is a relatively quick read with dangerous moments and a little bit of newly found love thrown in for good measure.

I gave this book 4.25 of 5 stars for storyline and character development and a sensual rating of 2.5 of 5 flames.

The Misfortune of Lady Lucianna

51wAvj1dUxL__UY250_

The Undaunted Debutantes, #2

$2.99 in E-Book

Publisher’s Description:

Quick-witted hellion Lucianna Constantine has no doubt who was responsible for the death of her dear friend. And she will stop at nothing to expose his transgressions—and those of every despicable man in London. Lucianna has witnessed the cruelty of London’s beau monde her entire life…starting with her own father. So she is more than willing to singlehandedly take down every vile man that crosses her path.

Roderick Crofton, the Duke of Montrose, had his entire family fortune stolen when his father trusted the wrong men. After a scandalous article surfaces in the London Daily Gazette, written by the notorious Mayfair Confidential columnist, Roderick finds himself financially destitute, without a betrothed, and lacking the means to find the lords responsible for duping his sire. With little option left, Roderick has only one choice: find another wealthy heiress to wed. His quest brings him to Lady Lucianna Constantine, and soon, he can’t deny that he wants her for more than just her dowry.

However, Luci has secrets that could change everything. And when Roderick uncovers what those confidences entail, it could mean misfortune for all involved.

My Thoughts:

This is book #2 of this new series and every bit as good as book #1.

Lucianna actually witnessed the death of her friend. With the aid of her friends Edith and Ophelia she means to bring that man to justice. Now her father intends to marry her off to the same man who is responsible for her friend’s death.
In the mean time these three friends intend to bring down every scoundrel in London with their anonymous Mayfair Confidential articles in the London Gazette.

Roderick Crofton, the Duke of Montrose’ father had lost the family’s fortune to unscrupulous characters. He now needs to put the family’s accounts to rights by marrying a wealthy heiress.
A mistaken article written by these three has ruined his chances with his betrothed. Now he need a new solution to his problem.

Can these two adversaries make a match that will save them both?

This book is filled with bits of mystery, mayhem and love. I gave it 4.5 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read from the author via Bookfunnel. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

The Misadventures of Lady Ophelia

51akiiLk+-L__UY250_

The Undaunted Debutantes Book 3

$2.99 in E-Book

Publisher’s Description:

Quiet, reserved, Lady Ophelia Fletcher always has her nose stuck in a book; hence why she didn’t witness the death of her friend the fateful night of her passing. Now, she writes the Mayfair Confidential column to expose unsavory men as a way of making amends for not backing her other friend’s claims of murder. When a handsome stranger arrives to meet with her father, Ophelia is helpless to keep from investigating the dashing lord.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has a promise to uphold: find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent. Shrouded in mystery and scandal, the Parnell family has been at war with one another for decades, and Colin is determined to put a stop to it all by discovering proof of the family’s honorable past. Unfortunately, the book he seeks is in the hands of a fiery-haired beauty, and he’ll need to enlist Ophelia’s help to uncover the truth.

Ophelia is more than happy to use her skills to help Lord Hawke. But will their search for answers lead to misadventure, or will they get something greater than they bargained for: the truth and each other?

My Thoughts:

This is the final installment of the series and an exceptionally well written story with a surprise in store. Our suspected murder is not the culprit after all. The killer is not someone who was ever suspected. That’s enough of a spoiler. I won’t spoil the whole thing by revealing the killer’s identity.

Lady Ophelia has always been a follower so when her father forbids her to go to Gretna Green with her friends when they decide to elope she does something unexpected when she strikes out on an adventure of her own. This is a surprise as Ophelia has never been very adventurous except in her taste in the books she prefers. She usually takes things in stride and does what she is told to.

Colin Parnell, Lord Hawke, has promised to find the book that proves his grandpapa worked as a spy for King George II and did not die as a no-good smuggler off the coast of Kent for his feisty Grandmother, Molly.
Colin is attracted to the fiery haired beauty whom his Grand mama immediately dubs a devil’s spawn due to her auburn locks.

Will these two come together in spite of opposition in the end or will Ophelia’s father and Colin’s grandmother cause an irreparable rift between the two likely lovers?

The character of Molly, Colin’s Grand Mama is delightful and a very memorable addition to this sometimes comical story. It is my favorite of the three books in this series.

I gave this book 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. This story has more mystery than sexual interaction, therefore the lower sensual rating.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Publisher’s Description:

New Years Eve changed Angelina ‘s life

She got lost and fell in love – with a ghost.

Now she needs to save him by becoming his wife

The problem?

If she succeeds, she frees him, but loses him forever.

Love is more complicated than she thought…

And that doesn’t include the elves.

A note from Michelle:

21r5jMaM+9L__UX250_In the past, I’ve suffered from post apocalyptic stress syndrome while writing 5 Blanks, powered an ancient artifact using a pair of star-crossed lovers in Chest of Souls, recovered Christmas by unearthing the forgotten love story of the Klauses, and, in Pic Jump, saved a little girl from a terrorist organization armed with nothing but a Barbie head and a woman in a coma. Oh, and helped a woman get lost and find true love – with a ghost – in Hallows Gate.

People ask how I do what I do. Simply put: I LOVE what I do. I thrive on the written word! By the time you read this, I’ll be working with awesome new characters to turn upside down (or inside out), spinning more plots to weave into their lives and planting subplots to harvest when they aren’t looking.

I’m currently at work on House of Cards, a children’s urban fantasy I’m co-authoring with my oldest daughter. Naturally, I’m also working on other projects. I’m being haunted by characters that demand sequels, and those who simply want to get their fifteen minutes in the spotlight. Masters of Lightning, never-say-die ghosts, and Elves with attitude are among these.

It has been a long and miraculous (always mental), journey. I bid you good reads wherever you go and in case I don’t survive my next adventure, I left my will at the bottom of a volcano under a rock.

Are you still reading this? Good. Keep it up – and thanks for dropping by!
